The Dust Containment System
and The Finishing Process
The Dust Containment System (DCS) is simply the name of the sanding equipment used by Lowers Hardwoods. There are many different types and styles of sanding equipment. The DCS has proven to be the most effective in keeping dust under control. The DCS combined with hanging draping film on cupboards and all areas possibly affected by the sanding creates a nearly dust free process.

After all preparations are made, the sanding process will begin. The first step is to sand the floor with coarse grit sandpaper. This will make your floor flat and remove the old finish. Filler is then spread over the entire surface of the floor. After the filler has dried, the finish sanding begins which involves sanding the entire floor three more times. This takes patience and an eye for detail. When the sanding is complete it is time for the stain, the sealer, and 2-3 coats of urethane. The amount of time that it takes depends on the size of the floor, but most jobs can be done in less than a week. For more details please contact us.
