Maintenance Coat

It is inevitable that your wood floor will show wear. How long it takes to show wear depends on the amount of foot traffic, pets, and care you take of your floor. When the finish is worn through to the bare wood, or you are no longer satisfied with the look of your floor then it may be time for a maintenance coat. If the damage to your floor is too severe then it may need to be re-sanded. Please let a Lowers Hardwoods technician determine this for you.

A maintenance coat is a quick, easy, and, dust free process. Your floor is simply buffed and another coat of urethane is added to the surface. If you were not satisfied with the durability of your old finish now is a good time choose something stronger. (http://www.bonakemi.com/contractors/twice_as_tough2.html ) Your floor can be done in sections to make it easier on you, For example, if the entire 1st level of your house has hardwood floors you can move the furniture into one section while the other is getting a maintenance coat, then move your furniture onto the newly coated area while the rest of your floor is being coated.

If a maintenance coat is done when needed and good care is taken of your floor, then it should last for many years.
